What would have happened if the east india company was defeated in the great uprising of 1857?

The war o 1857 was not fought for the liberation of India; Every individual was fighting for their own interests since the British had forced the annexation of Indian states. if the East India Company was defeated during this war, the British could have lost control over some functions of the country and the rulers who were  their allies during the war could have also challenged their supremacy and could have revolted
