Throughout the Cold War, the arms race began causing a massive advance in nuclear power and technology. Furthermore, a long term effect that the Manhattan project caused was for America and Russia to become two major powers and a huge threat around the world. A short term effect was that America dropped two atomic bombs over Japan ultimately detonating their economic state.
