Adolescence represents a delicate stage of transition, in which young people develop their personality and build their identity. It is precisely in this period that young people begin to be curious about their nature and sexual orientation. The issue of sexuality in adolescents opens a wide debate around the recognition of these as sexual beings. Among the reasons why adolescents do not practice sexual abstinence we have the following
a) They do not yet have the maturity and ability to understand about the problems of contracting sexually transmitted diseases or unwanted pregnancies
b) Peer pressure to become a sexually active person
c) Absence of self-control to satisfy sexual desires
d) Lack of adequate sexual education
