In order to prevent drug abuse a combination of strategies might be very helpful. As there are more than one reason for a person to become a substance abuser there also are many ways to prevent it. First of all, there should be family support and good communication so there should not be  barriers. And if the problem is already present the worst thing to do is to refuse it and pretend it is not happening because, in that way, it is impossible to help a person. On the other hand, it is importan to avoid negotiation, rules should be strict not to let a person to be tempted or find an easy way out.
