How do you feel when you know you might lose someone or thing that you had relationship with? What where your first few thoughts after hearing the loss?

I felt slightly empty inside, knowing that there would always be a hole in my life where that person stood. It was a rough time for everyone but my first thoughts when I lost a close family member were slightly dark. I was extremely sad and hurt. I will never forget the day that I lost that person.
