Write a one or two paragraph letter from the perspective of an adult deaf person who wants to explain to his or her friends and family why he or she is choosing to get a cochlear
implant.

dear mom, dad, sister, and brother,

I wrote this to you because I want a cochlear implant because I am deaf, and it has always been my dream to her the radio on a rainy day. To her you speak. I want to gain independence for myself I want to be able to hear the birds chirping and the sound of the old truck starting up.

I want to be looked at as someone who can hear when you call my name I don't want to be the "deaf girl" like how I was in school. I want to be able to hear the keyboard of the computer when I type this to you. and last i want to be able to be looked at as if i was one of the main stream girls who can hear and see all on there own.

P.S. i am deaf and just go my implant and i am over the moon happy that i can hear all of this stuff (i am still in school tho)
