Case #2: ¡Alto a la Violencia! Reducing Gun Violence in HondurasCase Excerpt: In 2012, the United Nations Office on Drug Crimes identified Honduras as the most violent nation in the world due to its murder rate of 90.4 homicides per 100,000 people. Gun violence was found to be especially prevalent in the country. In response to this report and to attempt to stem the high crime rate in his country, the President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández Alvarado, made it a priority to see workable solutions to the problem in order to ensure the safety of his country's people. One of his initiatives involved asking groups of multidisciplinary experts to develop proposals for reducing violence in Honduras by 2025. These groups were asked to develop recommendations that would address many issues that may contribute to Honduras' crime rate. These issues included, but were not limited to, Honduras' economy, development, international relations with the United States and other countries, law enforcement, and cultural and religious ethics. https://globalhealth. emory. edu/_includes/documents/sections/st udents/case-competitions/2015_inter nationalcc_case. pdf

1. Background on the Global Public Health Problem – what is the health issue facing the community in the case study? What is its history and etiology? What is the social, political, economic, environmental, or other context in which this problem occurs in the population? Why is this a problem that requires public health action? This information must be evidence-based and draw from data outside of the case prompt to support your work (using APA citations).

This information must be evidence-based and draw from data to support your work (using APA citations).

3. Resource Plan & Expected Outcomes – Using strong evidence, propose the resources that would be necessary for the responding agency or community to adopt your recommendations for action. This may be a budget of financial resources, a staffing plan, individuals or stakeholders who will need to support your intervention, a proposed timeline or other types of resources you might identify. You will also need to list at least 1 major global health metric/outcome that you propose will change as a result of your recommended intervention.
