I am a 13 year old girl in 7th grade. Background info about me and my family: My mom is kind of strict (like all moms are) and my dad is more of the "fun parent". I love cooking for my parents and i enjoy it very very much and im am or was a A+/4.0 student. I sometimes have suicidal thoughts and cut myself (not the point). Anyway. I am really scared and I need help. why? good question. Here is my problem: Since I started middle school, I would get a 4.0 in every semester, and my parents would be super proud of me (like SUPER). After like, maybe 7 semesters they got used it and expected me to get all A's. To be honest it wasn't hard for me at the time since I had real life school. Now present time: I have online school this year (due to the pandemic). I have issues with my internet, and i'm missing online classes a lot (my parents know that). I am also struggling to get work in, and I have lots of missing assignments. Which leads me too.. bad grades. The word keeps stabbing my head. Bad. Grades. i've never seen a grade on my report card lower then a A- except this year. And imagining my parents faces is traumatizing. They expected more then me. and i failed. i'm a failure. i deserve nothing. It's the last week of school for me. you might think i'm acting dramatic but i'm not, im serious. this is my grades right now: Science: B (84.7%) PE: A Pre-Algebra: D- (60.6%) ELA: A- (90.5%) Word History: C (73.5%) Orchestra: F/E They always talk about how good i am and how smart i am and thinking about my grades just sheds tears, bloody tears. please help I need advice.

Ok, so first of all, I would work on trying to get the lowest grades up. Set up a schedule so that you can focus on different things on different parts of the day. Don't freak out about it all, because if your parents already know that you're missing online classes, then they will be more likely to understand. It's better to stay calm, because panicking won't help you. (Sorry if that was a little harsh.) It looks like the lowest grades are Pre-Algebra and Orchestra, so work on those the most.

First off, i would try to talk to them, i know that sounds hard and cli-che but trust me bring this up too them that your having trouble with online school and its not giving you the right study environment (maybe try to see if you can stay at a local ca-fe or library with free internet if you have connection problems at your house) or try to do online free tutors or different sites like kh-an academy (believe it or not i have the same difficulty with school and it has only increased with the recent pan-demic, i can also relate to the su-ic-idal thoughts and idea-lat-ions as well as dep-ression).

Explanation:

1. first start off the conversation on a positive note like a normal conversation then say that you need to be more serious and talk about something important to you.

2. You already have proof from your past grades and report cards that you were a great student in a different enviroment and that only changed with the pandemic and being online (you have past proof for that and you are smart and i believe in you)

3. Try to give them ideas as far as what to help, such as places with better connections or possibly better enviroments like librarys or cafes, as well as online free tutoring or classes a program that has been helping me to catch up with things since i suffer from the same problems is kh-a-n aca-demy (they also have their courses and videos on you-tube you just have to put in the search bar a specific class with the name kh-an ac-ademy.

4.End it on a positive note so it doesn't turn into a bad or ne-gati-ve thing it has for me in the past so just say something like i know i can do this and i know im a good student im just not in the right specific enviroment, just don't make the conversation have a negative ending at all if you get what im saying...

5. as far as personal problems like depr-ession, and sui-cidal idea-lation and other things i can relate and would love to try to talk and help you through those problems so they dont escalate cause i know what its like when they do (i can give u my pad-let if you want to talk on there so were not talking on ) if you dont know what pad-let is think of it like pin-terest but with a ch-at board option to talk with friends or use for school/classmates and teachers as well (at least thats what ive used it for l-o-l) but its free as well you only need a g-mail to use it).

Afew buddies come over to your house to hang out. they notice you're struggling in school, perhaps you have to rely on to pass your class, but you can't absorb the knowledge. they could positively reinforce getting a tutor and working with you, dedicating more time to the areas of struggle and less on hanging out to better yourself.secondly, say you're the victim of bullying. you're afraid to tell an adult because of possible repercussions from the bully himself. your friends encouraging you and pushing you towards telling an adult for your safety is another example.
