1) Treatment Based on Sexual Orientation Some people are treated differently based on their sexual orientation.
People who are heterosexual tend to receive certain privileges than people
who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or queer, do not. This is called heterosexual
privilege. Here is a list of some privileges that heterosexual people may
have that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and queer people do not:
• You are able to date who you want to without fear of harassment.
• You are able to go to school functions and dances with your partner
(example: prom).
• You can show affection (hold hands, kiss, hug) your partner in public
without fear
• You have role models who have the same sexual orientation as you do.
• You do not have to worry about introducing your partner to your friends
or family community just because of their gender.
• You do not have to come out" and declare your sexual orientation.

You won’t be fired from your job because of your sexual orientation.
You won’t be denied healthcare due to sexuality.
You won’t get comments about having to be “fixed”.
You receive more public support for your relationship(such as congrats for an engagement).
You can talk openly about your partner/relationship.

Acting/dressing as your choose without it being “shoving your sexuality down others’ throats” or having it seen as a reflection of all people of your sexuality.
Traveling, especially around the world, without worrying about being hate crimed/killed/imprisoned.
Legally marrying the person you love no matter where you live.
Knowing your basic human rights will not be denied because of disapproval of your sexuality.
Reviving sexual education tailored for your sexuality.
Not having to worry about being recited due to your sexuality.
Your children won’t be harassed/outcast because of your sexuality.
