Think about what we see in advertisements today. Most ads have women who are quite skinny and/or men who are very physically fit. This has sort of "programmed" a lot of people to feel that this image of the body is the ideal body type and that anyone who doesn't look that way is seen as "unattractive." So, when we see these things and feel that we need to look like that, it affects the choices we make such as what food we decide to eat, how much we eat, or how much we exercise. Unfortunately this is not always a good thing. Some people choose to achieve certain looks using unhealthy methods such as anorexia.
