Dark moths were found in what parts of the country?

The dark colored moths of Biston betularia survived well in the industrialized part of the country because soot covered trees camouflaged the moths which prevented predators from seeing them. This mutation was a survival advantage over the white colored moths of B. betularia that were easily spotted by birds on soot covered trees.
