1. The presentation today states there is a sigma surrounding mental illness within society. Why do you think this stigma exist with a mental illness, but not as much with physical illness? Be sure to include a supporting statement to clarify your reasoning.

2. From your perspective, identity one strategy you can use to change illness being stigmatized. In other words, what do you think might help to change the viewpoint of individuals who may feel this way.

3. In the video, there is a clip demonstrating the need for empathy as opposed to sympathy. How do you define empathy? How does one who demonstrate empathy make a change for someone who is experiencing a mental health issue

3) empathy is where a person is understanding of another persons feelings , like having sympathy for another person. It might make a change for someone who is experiencing mental health issues because they won’t feel alone and that they have someone who understands why they feel the way that they do also it might help them as they will realise that many others struggle with mental health and that it’s completely normal. I’m not sure about the statement for 1 but u could say that, stigma exists with mental illness because some may think that people who have mental health issues are faking it, it’s not real and for attention whereas physical illness’ are visible and cannot be faked, 2) by sharing people who have struggled severely with mental health and who struggled so much that physical signs appeared, so they are more educated that it’s not fake and it’s not something abnormal
