Whenever the terms AIDS and HIV are used, they tend to elicit a host of powerful reactions. Yet many people who hold and voice strong opinions regarding HIV and AIDS are not fully informed about the virus, the disease it causes, or the people it affects. To become a little more acquainted with some of the people affected by HIV and AIDS, perform a keyword search on the Internet and find a video that includes an interview with teenagers who are HIV-positive. You may want to include the keywords HIV, positive, and teens in your search.

Once you have found a video, watch it carefully. Take note of what hearing the terms HIV and AIDS makes you think or feel. Briefly describe the video you found, and then answer the following questions:

Did you gain any information from the video that changed what you previously thought about HIV or the people living with the virus? If so, what?
Do you think the video challenged any stereotypes or misconceptions that many people have regarding HIV? If so, which ones, and how?
Do you think the video reinforced any stereotypes or misconceptions that many people have regarding HIV? If so, which ones and how?
