He does not offer health benefits to his employees due to cost and the inability to negotiate affordable rates. The employees are hard-working and dedicated to their jobs, however, are increasingly concerned about not having medical coverage. The concern becomes more relevant when Jack, one of David's employees is diagnosed with Stage 3 skin cancer. Jack is married with 3 young children and lives paycheck to paycheck. He is not sure how he's going to pay for his treatment or how he will be able to take care of his family during this difficult time.
