The Safe to sleep campaign

Explanation: The Safe to Sleep Campaign was originally known as The Back to sleep campaign is an initiative that have the backing of the US National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) at the US National Institutes of health to encourage parents to have their infants sleep in a supine position(on their backs) to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SID.

The Safe to Sleep was launched in in the year, 1994 and since then, the incidence of SIDS has declined by more than 50%.

In 1992, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended that babies should sleep on their backs or sides to reduce the risk of Sudden infant death syndrome. And they later revised this statement in 1996 to say that sleeping on their only the back was safest Hence the Launch of the "Back to Sleep" Campaign by NICHD in 1994 to spread the message.

The campaign was successful in because the percentage of babies sleep on their stomachs, (the prone position) reduced significantly and the death of infants reduced by more than 50%.
