Which is the best strategy for avoiding chronic disease caused by high -calorie diet

As an extreme athlete, an ultramarathonist and a top runner-up in speed competitions, I know how important the right diet is. It is impossible to look at how much misinformation about diets spread around with the primary goal of making money. Because so many people are misinformed about proper nutrition, obesity has the highest rates in history and since so many more people are buying ready-made solutions to their problems, obesity and the related diseases will continue to progress.  

Again and again I hear people saying that they have tried to do 'everything' to lose weight - a diet low in fat, high in fat, low in carbohydrates, high in protein, high in protein, all kinds of pills, injections, powders and cocktails, you name something else and they say they have tried it all. The main reason for their failure is misinformation.  

Diets that are high in fat can be dangerous and you are at risk of getting a lot of diseases from which most people in the West die prematurely. Low-carbohydrate diets are also dangerous, and most people do not realize that the ideal diet consists of 80% carbohydrates. But, it has to be healthy carbohydrates.  

A protein-rich diet leads to osteoporosis, kidney disease, and lack of energy for exercise. Most people think that diets with low protein will never work, being convinced of the necessity of the meat and dairy industry, and that the more protein you eat, the better - that is incredibly far from the truth.  

Excess good stuff (in this case fat) is just as bad as, and often more harmful than, lack. I call it the 'golden mean': you don't need either too much or too little of any nutrient for the best result, but exactly as much as you need.
