The continuing survey of food intakes by individuals (CSFII) was a national survey conducted by USDA  on food intakes by persons. The CSFII is followed up by another survey called the Diet and Health Knowledge Survey(DHKS) as a telephone survey and together they provide data used in What We Eat in America. The data was first collected from kids through 9 years of age.

The participants are offered three-dimensional models and the USDA’S Food Model Booklet to make the estimations on food amounts.
