The premise of the book is that modern science recognizes 7 (actually updated version of the book discuss 9) areas of intelligence. Society (and you) generally have a very narrow and inaccurate idea of what “smart” is. Armstrong helps broaden the definition to cover areas of intelligence such as musical intelligence, linguistic intelligence, emotional intelligence, etc.  

I guarantee you will recognize yourself in one of the nine and see that you are “smarter” than you even realized.
