Federalists' ideas could be suitably defined as the nationalist. The Federalists were effective in 1787 in developing the new US Constitution, which established the federal government at the expense of the states and the citizens. Hamilton and his allies, typically urban managers and businessmen, later formed the Federalist Party to support their shared political opinions. Federalists believed in a centralized national government with sound financial roots. In addition, the Federalists felt that the Constitution was liable for interpretation.
