Why is equator warmer than poles?​

A beam of sunlight falling on the equator has a much more intense effect than the glancing rays spread over a much larger area of the curving surface near the poles. Therefore, it is hotter at the equator than at the North Pole because the sun's heat is concentrated directly overhead at the equator. What you may not realize is that because it isn't flat, the sun's rays don't fall evenly across the earth's surface. The equator gets more direct sun than the poles. That means the equator heats up more than the poles.
