On March 11, 20011, there was a large, magnitude-9 earthquake that occurred in Northeastern Japan. It occurred Friday at 2:46p.m. local time. Taking place East of

T o h o k u, two of Earth's tectonic plates collided. During this event, F u k u s h i m a- D i i a c h i Nuclear Power Plant went through a nuclear meltdown and cause a huge release of toxic, radioactive chemicals. The earthquake also created a massive tsunami. 20,000 confirmed deaths were a tragic result of this.
