The paleozoic period began some five hundred forty million years ago with the diversification of life forms and ended 252 million years ago. The word Paleozoic is derived from the word that means ancient life. The Paleozoic era was divided into the Cambrian, the Ordovician, and silurian, devonian, the Carboniferous, and Permian the Permian was the last period of the Paleozoic era and the evolution of the land and sea was taking place as landmasses were taking shape. About 95% of the species or lifeforms on earth disappeared due to the event of great dying that is the third most severer mass extinction in earth history
