Two reasons why deforestation has occurred in the Northern Mountains

While other factors such as livestock grazing

and conversion of forest to agricultural

land may in some cases also be reported

to contribute to deforestation, firewood

consumption by local people is often

mentioned in the literature as the main cause

of deforestation in this region.
