The agriculture industry in North America is diverse with various industries. However, agriculture poses an environmental threat to the continent. Some of the challenges include soil degradation and groundwater pollution resulting from the use of chemicals in farms.

Another concern is water supply which has become a global concern and since agriculture consumes about 70% of freshwater it is really, the industry may be in water distress. In the past, there has also been over-harvesting of timber which threatened the biodiversity and affected timber production in the area.
