Beautiful excerpt, really it is. i think the speaker sympathizes for the person who committed crime. although he acknowledges that he is guilty of the crime, he understands the motive behind it was not because of pure evil. the speaker suspects that he had gone through bad past experience to get to where he is today, since he states that he has been misunderstood.
