Why should a reader evaluate the arguments made in a speech?

When we read an essay, one of the things that we are likely to notice is that the author makes arguments within his texts. These are claims that the author wants to prove through his writing. As we are reading, it is important for us to evaluate the arguments that the author makes in his speech for several reasons.

First, this will allow us to better understand what it is that the author is trying to prove in the text.
