What does montaigne mean when he says that the savages are “wild in the same sense that fruits are”?

Without more context as to the passage i can assume that he means in the sense how fruits are natural, in tune with the wild. they are a production of the environment they live in, nature causes them to thrive though it also molds them into maintaining a wild demeanor that they would only maintain if unsupervised. same with the savages.
