William Wordsworth, who was a very important and noted English Romantic poet who, along with Samuel Taylor Coleridge, helped launch the Romantic Age in English literature with their joint publication Lyrical Ballads (1798). The mythical story behind the poem is that Coleridge wrote the poem resulting of an opium-influenced dream.
