Why did the author choose to include brille’s flashback about life with his wife and children

I think it is because it will make it more interesting.

Memories and the different experiences which are related to certain number of individuals as they have gone through similar or different forms of experiences in there lives and across the different generations.  As, the author choose to include brille’s flashback about life with his wife and children because there are certain memories and times which connects the different individuals as there is a more deep and stronger link between these individuals inside the region.
