“What to the slave is the fourth of July” is the title which was given to the famous speech which was given by the leader of the abolitionist movement, Frederick Douglass on July 5, 1952. He gave this speech in Corinthian hall of Rochester in New York where he was addressing the ‘Anti Slavery Society’. This speech by Frederick Douglass is considered as a most acknowledged word by him among his other writings. In this speech he points out towards the slavery that was going on in the United States and the states that Slaved do not have the meaning of freedom and them will not celebrate of July as America’s Independence Day as it means nothing to them because they do not have privilege to enjoy freedom, liberty, and citizenship.  

In the above stanza, He takes on the American slave trade and states that the price of a slave was never higher than now and he also mentions that slavery is not in danger because it is one of the main aspects of the American society and in many states of United States; Slavery is the main source of wealth but he also states that slavery is just opposite to the ideals of America which are there in the constitution of United States.
