Davis has always thought that he wanted to be an astronaut. He reads everything he can find about astronauts and their adventures in space. He went to a space camp for a week and learned a lot about what it takes to be an astronaut. While there, he spent some time in the cabin of a spaceship, but he didn't like being in such cramped quarters. Now he's uncertain about whether he wants to be an astronaut. One time Davis volunteered to work for a veterinarian. He swept the floors, played with the animals, and cleaned the chairs in the veterinarian's office. Davis liked working there, and for a while he thought he would like to be a vet, but now he's not so sure. He knows a lot more about what is involved with being a veterinarian, he says, and he's not sure he could put an animal to sleep.
He still hasn't made up his mind about which career he wants. Davis' dad encourages Davis to take his time and explore many possibilities before making such an important decision.
