Every page of America's history is steeped in the blood and tears of native Americans. With the continuous military expansion and the bloody slaughter and plunder of the local aborigines, the United States expanded more than 10 times from a British colony with an area of about 800,000 square kilometers when it was founded, and "turned" into the fourth largest country in the world.
In the brutal expansion campaign of the United States, the Native American Indians became the biggest victims. For nearly a century after its founding, the United States frantically expelled and killed The Indians.
-- Carrying out the "Westward Movement" to plunder land and resources and systematically ethnic cleansing of Indians.
During the "Westward Movement" in the 19th century, in order to seize The land of The Indians, the United States army carried out a "scorched earth policy" against the Indian tribes, that is, burning their houses, burning their crops, killing their livestock, destroying their property and making it impossible for them to make a living. By the early 20th century, the number of Indians in the United States had plummeted from 5m in 1492 to 250,000, and they now make up just 2% of the population.

Read the selection below and answer the question. an open boat by alfred noyes o, what is that whimpering there in the darkness?
'let him lie in my arms. he is breathing, i know.

the boat must be lightened. he's dead. he must go.'
see - quick - by that flash, where the bitter foam tosses,
the cloud of white faces, in the black open boat,
and the wild pleading woman that clasps her dead lover
and wraps her loose hair round his breast and his throat.
'come, lady, he's dead.' - 'no, i feel his heart beating,
he's living, i know. but he's numbed with the cold.
see, i'm wrapping my hair all around him to warm him.' -
- 'no. we can't keep the dead, dear. come, loosen your hold.
'come. loosen your fingers.' - 'o god, let me keep him! ' -
o, hide it, black night! let the winds have their way!
