Write a 3–4 paragraph essay or 3-4 stanza poem. You may describe a place, a memory, a person, a pet/animal or an object (a food, a bike, a new piece of clothing, etc.)

Remember these four things as your write:
1. Good descriptive writing includes vivid sensory details that paint a picture and appeals to at least three of the senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste. Descriptive writing may also paint pictures of the feelings the person, place, or thing invokes in the writer.
2. Good descriptive writing often makes use of figurative languages such as similes and metaphors to help paint the picture in the reader's mind.
3. Good descriptive writing uses precise language. Please use specific adjectives and nouns and strong action verbs to give life to the picture you are painting in the reader's mind. ‘Dainty’ is more descriptive than ‘small’ and ‘leaped’ is more descriptive than ‘ran.’
4. Good descriptive writing is organized. Some ways to organize descriptive writing include: chronological (time), spatial (location), and order of importance. When describing a person, you might begin with a physical description, followed by how that person thinks, feels, and acts.

1. at the conclusion of chapter 13, the monster realizes that he has none of the qualities or possessions that human beings value, and so he worries the he will be forever miserable. he says, “oh, that i had for ever remained in my native wood, nor known nor felt beyond the sensations of hunger, thirst, and heat! ” this statement recalls one made by victor frankenstein in chapter 10: “if our impulses were confined to hunger, thirst, and desire, we might nearly be free; but now we are moved by every wind that blows, and a chance word or scene that that word may convey to us.” questions: what do these two statements suggest about the impact of knowledge? how do the statements affect the way readers view the monster and victor?
