If I was Oliver I don't think I would take the mans handkerchief in the first place (given that its not a good thing to do)  but if I was in Oliver's position I would run to avoid being caught or getting in trouble.

yes I would run because If the man found out who stole his handkerchief Oliver could face serious consequences such as getting in trouble or being punished. another reason I would run is because it can potentially become a dangerous situation for Oliver and his friend if the man were to know it was them.
