In The Giver, Chapter 2, Jonas’s father tells the story of his own Ceremony of Twelve. Which is the most effective objective summary of the father’s story?

The Giver, Chapter 2

1.Jonas’s father had his ceremony when his sister turned nine. He had been teaching her to ride a bicycle, which was technically not allowed, but everyone did it. Sometimes rules could change, but it took a long time. Jonas’s father was chosen to be a Nurturer, which did not surprise anyone.

2.Like Jonas, his father was nervous for his Ceremony of Twelve. But unlike Jonas, his father knew the entire time that his skills and aptitude would lead him to be chosen as a Nurturer. The choice confirmed his belief that the Elders know best.

3.Jonas is nervous about his Ceremony of Twelve, and his father can relate. He was also nervous, even though he knew what his career would be. He had trouble paying attention. Then his turn came. He was happy to have been chosen as a Nurturer. It made him feel as if the Elders knew him.

4.When Jonas’s father was twelve, his sister was nine, and she got her bicycle. Then his father did not pay much attention to the Tens and Elevens. He knew he was going to be chosen as a Nurturer. People were happy for him anyway when it was announced.
