Think: How do you know there was a storm outside? What does a storm look/sound/feel /smell like to you? Use vivid sensory language to create the mood of a storm.

Think: Don’t tell me that it’s messy. Describe the objects in the room, and how they are placed, and let the reader infer that it is a “disaster.” What does it smell like? Consider using a creative simile or metaphor.

Think: What does he do to make you think he is smart? What makes him a great student? Tell a story here that SHOWS us he is smart and a great student without TELLING us this.
