I remember when I first was able to read by myself, I would try and flex my knowledge to my other classmates. "Oh, you don't know what this word is? I'M BETTER THAN YOU!" And then I would tell them what the word is. I remember also feeling a great sense of happiness that I no longer had to read with my parents anymroe. I felt like it was a sense responsibility that bestoed to me. Also, I watched a lot of closed captioned anime.
