Kamere Journal #1 Due before midnight Saturday
The topic of this journal is the idea that the United States is a "melting pot." For this journal, I want you to tell
me which parts of your home culture you think the U. S. should adopt and add to its dominant culture. What from
your culture do you wish Americans would integrate into their culture? Examples could include food, holidays,
clothing, traditions, etc. This journal is due Friday, September 17 at 11:59 PM. All of it needs to be your own
ideas. If you take any of it from the Internet, you will get a zero. I will know if you didn't write it yourself. Use
this journal writing as practice writing for Paragraph 1, and be careful to write a topic sentence with a controlling
idea, include transtion words for your three main points, support your three points with explanation, details and
examples, and write a conclusion sentence that restates your topic sentence. Your paragraph needs to be 12-14
sentences.
Be sure to say where you are from and what culture you're talking about. Use specific details please.
Thanks!

In the real world, feldman learned to settle for less than 95 percent. he came to consider a company “honest” if its payment rate was above 90 percent. he considered a rate between 80 and 90 percent “annoying but tolerable.” if a company habitually paid below 80 percent, feldman might post a hectoring note, like this one: the cost of bagels has gone up dramatically since the beginning of the year. unfortunately, the number of bagels that disappear without being paid for has also gone up. don’t let that continue. i don’t imagine that you would teach your children to cheat, so why do it yourselves? the excerpt serves as which type of support for the authors’ argument? a claim an example a conclusion a counterclaim

Reread this portion of the excerpted text from common sense. men of passive tempers look somewhat lightly over the offenses of britain, and, still hoping for the best, are apt to call out, come, we shall be friends again for all this. but examine the passions and feelings of mankind. bring the doctrine of reconciliation to the touchstone of nature, and then tell me, whether you can hereafter love, honor, and faithfully serve the power that hath carried fire and sword into your land? if you cannot do all these, then are you only deceiving yourselves, and by your delay bringing ruin upon posterity. your future connection with britain, whom you can neither love nor honor, will be forced and unnatural, and being formed only on the plan of present convenience, will in a little time fall into a relapse more wretched than the first. what key concept about the relationship between an abusive government and its citizens does paine want readers to understand? use evidence from the text to support your response. your response should be one to two complete paragraphs.
