Your readers suggest (and insist to an annoying amount) that he wears that hoodie because he feels more comfortable in it, and he uses the jacket like a security blanket when he feels self conscious. But no, the readers are wrong. Jacob likes wearing the hoodie because it is cold. and he does not like the feeling of his arms being cold.

 The readers continue to ask, or assume that they were right, that Jacob is using the hoodie as a security blanket, and you start to feel annoyed with them, because they just won't listen to you! You obviously love your readers, so you politely explain on social media that no, your character Jacob does not wear a hoodie because he is self conscious, but rather, because he is cold.
