Cultural identity refers to the identity from which a group belong.

Cultural identity refers to the identity from which a group belong. It is part of a person's self-conception and self-perception which is related to nationality, ethnicity, religion, social class, locality or any kind of social group that has its own distinct culture. In the American society, two major groups are present i.e. white Americans and African Americans. These two groups have different cultures so has different cultural identity. Due to differences, conflict occurs between these two groups of society otherwise, both stay peacefully with each other.

"Everyday Use" tells a story about a family made up of three black women, who have very different views on how the black community should look and behave. All women identify with black culture, but while the mother and one of the daughters identify with black culture through the history of suffering, struggle, hard work and overcoming.

The other daughter identifies more shallowly, caring more with the aesthetics and appearance that this culture carries, but without caring too much about the history and the difficulties that black people have gone through and are going through. the development of trade during the middle age increased to the change given in the agriculture, which gave money, industry and markets a bigger importance in economy. the agriculture production was more than the consumption, which meant the creation of wider markets out of the areas. besides, with the end of multiple wars, the population increased and new trade routes were created.
