He wanted to speak at Caesar's funeral for Caesar. He did it to motivate the people into being angry about his death, all while still abiding by Brutus' "terms and conditions". This strategy worked because he made quite a bit of people angry and out to avenge Caesar's death. This reveals that Antonius is a smart person who is willing to do anything to get to the solution of what he wants. This also reveals that Antony is manipulative, meaning he would probably not be a goo and rightful leader to Rome.
