TEXT Each year the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo chooses its “most handsome elderly man” in a beauty contest where charisma is as important as looks.
This year’s winner, seventy six year old Jose dos Santos Neves, said: “When you’re as old as me, it’s an achievement”. The competition is a city initiative to promote self-esteem among senior citizens.
