What's the main idea of this passage? Flowers in your garden can be divided into two broad categories: perennials and annuals. Perennials are flowers that survive from one year to the next. You plant them once and can expect to see them come back year after year. Annuals, on the other hand only live for one year and must be replanted each spring. There are other differences as well. Perennials generally bloom continuously throughout the summer, in a spectacular display of color.
