They don't know how to handle defeat or victory very well anymore. They feel as if they loose, they are now losers, when really they should be thinking of ways to improve for next time.

    In the story, the author's son went to an interview to apply for a college. Every other child came out of the room with an smile on their face, indicating they got accepted or tears rolling down their faces, indicating they were rejected. When Osgood's son came out of the room, you couldn't tell weather he had got accepted or rejected. Osgood was so proud of his son because he smiled even though he didn't get accepted. His son new that it doesn't matter if you win or if you loose.
