character from The Scarlet Letter. Trace the changes in
characterization throughout the novel. Choose quotations that
support your ideas in relation to the character's capacity for good
and evil. What effect do the choices made by that character have
on the process of characterization? In other words, how does the
character change? What effect do the character's choices have on
that character's development throughout the novel?
