According to Merriam-Webster's dictionary, "anthropomorphism" is "an interpretation of what is not human or
personal in terms of human or personal characteristics." The speaker in
“The Fly" anthropomorphizes the subject of his poem in a number of
humorous, disgusting, and sometimes sympathetic ways. Why does he do
this? Give two examples of where this occurs in the poem and explain the
effects of giving the fly certain human characteristics.
