Friendship (adapted from Charlotte's Web by E. B. White)
1. Charlotte was eating a fly caught in her web. 2. Wilbur the pig looked away in
disgust. 3. "Charlotte, my new spider friend," thought Wilbur, "is fierce, brutal,
scheming , bloodthirsty-every-thing I don't like. 4. How can I like her, even though she
is pretty and, of course, clever?"
5. Wilbur was experiencing the doubts and fears that often go with finding a new
friend. 6. In time, he was to discover that he was mistaken about Charlotte. 7. Under her
rather bold and cruel exterior, she had a kind heart, and she was to prove loyal
and true to the very end.
