For example, France wanted to punish Germany for the high number of casualties that resulted from the war and rebuild France. Also, the British wanted to punish Germany because they were apparently the sole cause of the war. Even though Wilson's Fourteen Points didn't really succeed, because they didn't prevent World War II from occuring, many of his points were largely implemented after the war.
