pasteur went on to extend his germ theory to develop vaccinations for diseases such as anthrax, cholera, tb, smallpox, and rabies. it was the success of pasteur's rabies vaccine that brought him immediate fame. this began an international fundraising campaign to build the pasteur institute in paris, which was inaugurated on november 14, 1888.louis pasteur died in 1895.
