  I believe that the quality that lacks the free verses is Rhytmic Pattern.

  Free verses are an open form of poetry which means that had no predetermined structrue and no prescribed length since it had no regular meter and no rhyme scheme there are no specific rules for end stopped lines or stanza´s division.

  Some free verse poem might not resemble like a poem at all, during the begginings of the 20th Century it had it´s peak with a group of authors  who called themselves Imagists; they wrote poetry focused on concrete images, they avoided the abstract philosophies and sometimes even the puntuation.

  Higlhy experimental poetry is often writeen in free verse, in them the poet might focus on words sounds or images without regard to logic or synthax. But there are some examples that free verse isn´t necessarily need to be experimental or hard to decipher. I will copy an extract of a poem from a contemporary poet named Ellen Bass written in an ordinary language to exemplify, the poems title is "What did I love"

"What did I love about killing the chickens?  Let me start

with the drive to the farm as darkness

was sinking back into the earth.

The road damp and shining like the snail’s silver

ribbon and the orchard

with its bony branches. I loved the yellow rubber

aprons and the way Janet knotted my broken strap.
